The House of Machrie is a Victorian mansion is set in beautiful surroundings with fabulous coastal views across the Kilbrannan Sound to the Mull of Kintyre. Built over one hundred years ago as the principal farmhouse on the island it encapsulates Scottish architecture through the ages with crow stepped roof gables and a circular tower, which houses the main staircase. It is surrounded by mature trees to the rear and overlooks its former kitchen garden and farmland.
It was extensively refurbished in the early 1990s enjoying the charm and character of a traditional sporting lodge and accommodates up to fourteen guests in two double rooms (both with en-suite bathrooms) and five twin rooms (1 with en-suite bathroom) and further two bathrooms.
The house combines spacious and attractive bedrooms with lots of public space including a large sitting room, dining room, a family/TV room and a sea-facing conservatory. Out with the house a stone barn has been converted into a games room, which is a perfect space for a larger party. The property is equipped to a high standard and has central heating throughout, WIFI and Sky TV. Dogs are welcome to stay and should be kept in the cloakroom or conservatory area.
